WHERE IS CARLO THE MOUSE THESE DAYS?

"CHEREEKK … CHEREEKK…WHERE IS CARLO THE MOUSE THESE DAYS?”
I wish I were someone who likes to use new technology. I am strange; if the word doesn’t describe a new creation in a sweet way, I don’t feel like using it.
Facebook sounds harsh, almost insensitive. They should call it Hugbook! People love open arms and a friendly squeeze. I do! I’m sure you do, too.

Hugbook sounds warm and cozy. Facebook is for someone who is ready to face the world. I’m not! I’m sure the world is not ready for me either. No hard feelings, world! Call it even. Most of us do not like facing things—bad weather, crummy news, the truth. Brrrr … It sounds scary!

While daydreaming about Hugbook, I will try to get friendlier with the Internet and make some friends on Facebook.
Hooray! The more I use it, the friendlier it sounds. It’s not bad at all! I’ve found many friends, except for someone I really wanted to find.
Where is he hiding? Where has he gone? Any idea? I’m sure he doesn’t live inside my computer. Who knows? The computer does come with a mouse. The snoopy mouse is a genius! He might be in your house at this very moment. Please check the code “Carlo the Mouse on Vacation.” But beware! He is cute, but shrewd! He is so soft and squishy … I want to tickle him and make him laugh. It makes me think of Google! Hooray for the Internet!

I am like everyone else: I like to Google! I love this name! It sounds like a laughing baby, and any grandmother loves little kids.
I Google every day! I love to chase the mouse around the world. He used to live in Florida, inside a hospital’s walls, but his curiosity got him in trouble. His name is Carlo the mouse, a tricky fellow. He fell inside an open car trunk and unexpectedly took the vacation he had dreamed of all his life. For a while, I lost track of him, so if you spot him snooping around your computer or somewhere else, please email olga@mrsdbooks.com immediately.

If you have doubts about whether Carlo is the mouse you see, please ask for a picture and I will send you one right away. I will understand if he tricks you. Don’t get discouraged! Read the story “Carlo the Mouse on Vacation” and get an idea of where that sneaky mouse could have gone.

My good friend “Gut” is telling me that I should listen to the bird that knows how to tweet.
“Twitter!” This word sounds like music to my ears. Twitter reminds me of a little sparrow who likes to chat, just like you and I do. This tiny bird isn’t a good singer, but when it starts twittering, the world hears its voice. A happy sparrow sings with soul and likes to spread good news to children. Since I heard the sound of this bird, I’ve started twittering.

“Chereekk … Chereekk.” That’s how I am twittering these days. I sit back and carefully listen to what children have to say.
Attention, all children! I need your help. Please spread the news: I’ve lost track of the funny mouse. He took a wrong bus and landed on a plane that took him to Paris. My little friend got himself in trouble on the streets of Paris and disappeared without a trace.

Please help me find Carlo the mouse. His family is waiting, and so am I. Listen to the news and keep your eyes open. If any thought of his location crosses your mind, just quickly tweet “Chereekk… Chereekk.” I will be there waiting …

Thank you!

The shrewd Carlo finds a way to survive the most unusual situations while dodging—or causing—mayhem along the way, touching readers’ hearts and making them laugh.

EXCERPT!
Suddenly, he came across a lake. Never having seen so much water so close, Carlo stopped and smiled. Sparkling in the sunset, the lake looked like an endless ocean.
“Well, it is starting to look more like a vacation. They have an ocean in New Jersey too,” he thought, splashing the water around.
“A dip before dinner would be nice.” He decided to go swimming. Carlo took his old glasses from his nose and hid them underneath his pants, which he put on the grass. He closed his eyes and dove into the blue water, not bothering to look around the shore.
“Aaahhh … Ooohhh …” He was swimming to the middle of the lake, splashing as he went.
“Not Florida, but refreshing after a long trip.” He smiled to himself, floating on his back. To avoid the nasty seagulls and other birds that were at war with mice, Carlo never went to the beach in Florida.
If New Jersey had more restaurants, not just Mrs. D.’s kitchen, it would be a great vacation after all, he thought, climbing on the shore.
Barely able to see, Carlo leaned over to look for his glasses. He looked around, but the pants and the glasses seemed to have disappeared.
“Lose something?” a white rooster asked from the bush nearby...

WELCOME TO MRS.D'S BLOG!

I’m so glad you stopped by! I am Mrs.D. and I am delighted you found my blog. I hope you will find my stories inspiring and meaningful and will have as much fun reading them as I had writing them.

THE TREES HAVE HEARTS

This story has a special place in my heart.
After you finish reading this book to your child, stop your busy life for a moment and take time for you and your child. Close your eyes and go to a special place, where everything is simple and pure. Cuddle with your child on the green grass or golden sand… stare at the beautiful blue sky… listen to the splashing waves… spin around in a blooming garden or talk to the whispering wind. Look around you and see what is important in life and to your child.

Stop and breathe… Be a child for a moment… Dive into their imaginary world where you can hide in the shadows of blossoming trees. There was a time when my curly-haired girl taught me how to see her world through her innocent green eyes.

Do not lose this precious time together; our children grow so fast and I believe that these special moments are given to us for a reason. Hug your children every chance you get; reassure them that they are loved. They have their worries and fears, ideas and solutions as we do. Right or wrong, our children need us to understand their imaginary world and to be present in their dreams. Try to listen and hear what they are hearing and see what they are seeing. Love simple things with an open heart and you will receive unconditional love. Teach your children, lead them through their life, but let them run free in their imaginary kingdom.

I had the privilege to see this imaginary world through the eyes of my little daughter and saved those moments in my memories forever. The curly-haired girl is running free in the blooming garden. Now, it is your time, and I will share my story with you…

THE TREES HAVE HEARTS

Available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Xlibris bookstores:

In this heartwarming book, which is beautifully illustrated, you will read the story of a young girl who moves to America. Unable to speak a new language, she tries to make friends. Rejected by other children, the little girl feels sad and lonely. She lives in an old house with a small garden, where three garden trees and the mysterious wind become her first imaginary friends.

Through the story, the garden friends develop a wonderful friendship with the growing girl, while teaching her how to make real friends and appreciate the beauty of nature. They help her to overcome her fears and worries and open a beautiful new world to her. Readers are invited to share in the young girl’s fears, tears, and joys as she copes with difficult moments while adapting to her new home.

Poignant and imaginative, this story will easily find a spot in the reader’s heart. The rich storytelling and unforgettable characters add flavor to an already delightful story line. This book opens a surprising imaginary world as seen through the eyes of a child…
